Dance Competition!

This week I got to do something I hadn't done in a long time: a dance competition!

As you can see, the guys wear numbers on their backs for easy identification so the judges can write down their numbers. This competition wasn't too serious. If it was, then all the guys and the girls would be wearing white tops and black pants or skirts, because then there isn't anything to make you stand out but your dancing.

Unless, of course, it was an Open level competition, and then you can wear whatever you want. But this wasn't quite that skill level. It was just the different classes in the college coming together and competing.

I love dance events. It's why I wrote a book about ballroom. There's so much there to write about.

This is the lovely and talented Kayla. She told us all before the dance that she would wear the most tacky cowboy shirt she had, because she was competing in the Country Swing and Country Polka events. It's not THAT bad... okay, so yeah, Kayla, it was a pretty tacky shirt... but you wore it well, partner.

We took 1st place in Country Swing. :) Those are our victory mugs. Yep. In this competition, they gave us mugs rather than trophies or medals or ribbons. BUT HEY. WE WON. And we had a blast.

Also, please take a moment to admire my beautiful tie.

  1. You guys are ADORABLE, if I can say so. Also, you can never have too many mugs.
